Using the bass guitar, synthesizers, tape loops, and computer wizardry, hujiking pieces together patchworks of samples, live instrumentation, and on the spot audio manipulation to create long-form soundscape music.

Using the bass guitar, synthesizers, tape loops, and computer wizardry, hujiking pieces together patchworks of samples, live instrumentation, and on the spot audio manipulation to create long-form soundscape music. Improvisation is the key, with an overarching philosophy of “controlled chaos” defining the creative process of hujiking both live and in-studio. No two albums or performances will be the same. Inspired by the production of early Aphex Twin, the raw improvisational force of Sonic Youth, and the long-form vision of composers like Riyuchi Sakamura-hujiking is about weaving together patchworks of sound that expose our innermost selves.
About The New Album: “you pour out of me” is the third album by the artist, and marks a unification of the guiding principles of the last two releases; “hujiking_1” and “lately i’ve been burning up and i cannot be put out“. The songs of the former were composed to be autobiographical, and the latter is a collection of improvisations performed in an afternoon. By focusing the improvisation and digging deeper into himself, hujiking has arrived at his most poignant release so far with “you pour out of me.” Each song is a memory of the past, untangled and woven back together into a blanket of tape, synthesizer, and sonic exploration that reveal truth of those moments.
